Why does soda pop go POP?
When a bottle or can of a soft drink is opened, why does it "pop"?

The pop is caused by a pressure differential inside compared to outside the container.

The pressure inside the container is greater than the pressure outside. When the container is opened, the snap of gases rushing out and then snapping back in causes a net POP sound.

Please provide ideas & experiences for other visitors.
